MTT x Kad Kokoa has formed an outgrowing operation in Chiangmai to preserve and continue growing Chumphon variety cacao. Our fermentary and drying facility helps us scaling the provision of cacao saplings to contracted farms and purchase the cacao pods from the farms at the farm-gate and fair price.
Kad Kokoa's discovery of a derelict farm in Amphawa, Samut Songkram inspired and sparked us into action to help preserving the heirloom cacao of the area. We have resurrected and provide income to the farmer by helping him re-grow the cacao trees from the original trees within the lands located within 10 km radius from the original farm. The first microlot of Amphawa origin has been released in late 2019.
The center has been playing a key role for cacao research since the 1970s. Kad Kokoa has been exchanging know-how and promote Chumphon Variety cacao for growers in the province so the cacao beans from Chumphon are of specialty type.
